Overall a rather cold month, however it was a month of wildly fluctuating
temperatures. Very cold at first, with 3 consecutive nights below -5C.
Then becoming much milder, the highest temp of 14.4C being recorded
as early as the 7th, just 2 days after the absolute minima. Temperatures
cooled off gradually until the 21st, when a max of only 2.5C was recorded.
Some snow fell on this day, although the coverage was only slight.
Thereafter, temperatures generally rose towards the end of the month to
give maxima of around 10C.
