Overall, a remarkably mild month. All figures were very similar to those
recorded during September. The ave. max was 0.6C lower, but the ave.
min was actually 0.3C higher, resulting in an overall average just 0.2C
lower than last month. No less than 16 days recorded 15C or over,
compared to just 1 day for the whole of October 2000. Most notable
amoung these was 19.2C on the 14th, and 17.6C as late as the 30th.
Not surprisingly, there was no frost of any description and the 4.5C low
recorded on the 28th was the lowest by a considerable margin.
The month was generally unsettled, but with relitively little prolonged
or heavy rain. Drier/sunnier interludes occurred 11th to14th and 27th
to 30th.
